Race 1 - Maiden Claiming $25,000 (Purse $27,000)

Six 3-year-old male runners will go six furlongs in this sprint. #6 Royal Thunder, the 4/5 morning line favorite, has been very consistent the last four races and is the most experienced of the runners. The son of Mineshaft came ever so close to breaking his maiden the last time out as he angled between horses to fall to the winner by less than a length at the wire. Expect Royal Thunder along with #1 Holy Saint who is racing for the first time as a gelding and blinkers on, to be the pacesetters in this one. Holy Saint gets a weight relief with apprentice jockey Charlie Marquez, who has finished in the money in 40% of his starts this year, is making his debut in 2020, and should be considered in exotic bets. # 4 Jamakin Me Run and #3 Zen Pi, are both dropping into the claiming division after faltering in the special west class the last time out.

Picks: I like a win bet on #6. I will also go with a show bet on the #1 if the price is right.

Race 2 - Allowance Optional Claiming $35,000 (Purse - $45,000)

Six males will go six furlongs. This should be an excellent face-paced race #2 Bullets Child is the fastest horse in the field and has hit the board in all six of her starts with a 50% strike rate. The 5-year-old gelding is coming off a win in a $55,482 allowance race at Laurel early in July, giving him three victories in four attempts at the current distance. #4 Fortunate Friends has run well in each of his last eight races, putting up a personal-best 102 ESpeed rating his last time out at this level, and gets a little distance relief after going seven furlongs on July 11. The 4-year-old Florida gelding has finished in the top 3 in 68.4% of his starts and has fared well in an allowance optional claiming meets as well at the current distance. #6 Uplifting and #5 Hall Pass should also be considered when filling out the bottom of your ticket. Uplifting, who earned a victory against $8,000 starter foes the last time out, should be just behind Bullets Child in the early going. Meanwhile, Hall Pass likes to work off the pace and has run decently well at this distance.

Picks: I like a win bet on the #2. I also like an exacta/ trifecta box of #2, #4,#6.

Race 6 - Allowance (Purse - $42,000)

Six 3-year-old male horses will go seven furlongs. ,#5 Abuelo Paps, #1 Karan’s Notion and #3 Prodigious Bay will likely vie for the lead in the early going. I am going with Abuelo Paps, who is making his first start at this distance, as he returns to the main track after finishing sixth against similar foes on the grass on July 17. The 3-year-old Maryland colt has hit the board in three of four races on the dirt, including a win two starts back. Karan’s Notion is coming off his best race defeating $40,000-$35,000 claimers by over 13 lengths. #4 Stone Courageous already has placed in two stakes races and should be primed for a better performance in his second start of 2020 after finishing sixth in an allowance race on July 15 at Delaware Park. The 3-year-old gelding has cashed in four of six races overall.

Picks: I like a #5, #1, #3 exacta box here.
